Experts of the European Commission, academic members and specialists of the IT industry will join the 5th edition of Sibiu Innovation Days, taking place between the 24-25th of October in Sibiu, Romania.

Participants will explore the emerging technologies: the drivers for digital transformation in business and education, to foster sustainable development and reduce the innovation gap between Romania and other European countries.

This milestone event is organized by the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, through the Hasso Plattner Knowledge Transfer Institute, the Cluj IT Cluster and Sibiu IT Cluster, being sponsored by NXP Semiconductors, Continental, F5 powered by ALEF, Marquardt Group, Sibiu IT Cluster, Vitesco Technologies and MultiversX.

The 2-days conference is expected to bring together over 50 speakers from Romania, Germany, France, Norway, Italy, Poland and Spain, some of them with a long tradition of joining this flagship initiative. The organizers have prepared 2 workshops and 6 panels aimed at unfolding industry trends regarding Blockchain & Cybersecurity, Green Digital Transition, Artificial Intelligence, Innovative Partnerships, Quantum Computing and Quantum Information, Education Transformation (upskilling, reskilling and lifelong learning).

Just like in the previous editions, Sibiu Innovation Days will have a section dedicated to a hackathon for students, which will shape a favorable context to showcase hardware and software applications and to create a new concept around digital transformation.

Stelian Brad, President of the Cluj IT Cluster, believes that “In the face of an accelerated pace of technological development, the essential thing is not to adopt innovations, but to integrate them in a way that brings real value to the economy and the society. At Cluj IT Cluster, we believe that Romania can become one innovation pillar in Europe, if we continue to focus on developing advanced digital skills and on the creation of collaborative ecosystems between the industry, the academic environment and public authorities. Sibiu Innovation Days is the place where these visions can take shape.

What I wish to emphasize is that in the process of digital transformation, the key of success lies in how we manage to adapt technologies to our local needs and turn them into long-term competitive advantages. Romania must not only be a consumer of technology, but also an active creator in this digital revolution.”
